“Christmas makes me sad. It makes me miss my home, reminds me of the ones I love.” Artist Linnea Good sings beautifully, capturing what some of us are going through. Christmas can be the complex season. In the midst of the most festive surroundings we can discover our deepest longing that we know cannot be fulfilled. The truth is that we can move forward only after naming our losses. Perhaps you feel strange that you are going to have to spend Christmas without your loved one. Perhaps you feel lonely because your children are far away. No matter what the reason is, know that you are not alone in feeling sad at this time of the year. I invite you to come and join us for a service of remembering. In a quiet and peaceful time and space, we will name our losses, light candles, sing and pray. So come just as you are. Our Longest Night service will take place in the sanctuary on Friday, December 21 at 7 pm.
Would you be willing help with this important service? I can definitely use some help. I am looking for one person who can read alternately with me, a couple of greeters, and a couple of coffee crew.
