Church Groups

We welcome anyone of any age who would like to share in our activities and fellowship.  Some activities may be less visibly church focused; some are more long term and others ‘project-based’; some mean connecting with a group and others can be done on your own.  Whatever would suit your interests and schedule, please get in touch.  We’d love to include you.  Contact the office for further information (204-475-1586) or email us fguc@shaw.ca

Finance Team

The Finance Team consists of a lead and three team members that work closely with the Treasury Group to manage the financial affairs of the congregation. They establish and maintain a system of financial administration, keeping the Leadership Team and the congregation informed about the financial status of the church. They prepare and administer the annual budget that has been approved by the Leadership Team and the congregation.

Energizing Generosity Team

The Energizing Generosity Team has a mandate to increase the amount of money raised from donations and fund raising events for our various forms of ministry. We believe that one of the most important steps we need to take is to do a better job of explaining the various forms of ministry and the amount of money and volunteer effort we are currently devoting to each. To accomplish this we have produced a narrative form of budget to explain our four areas of ministry:

  •  Worship and Celebration

  • Exploring our Faith

  • Caring and Hospitality

  • Reaching Out to Others

The members of the project team continue to explore and organize various methods of encouraging generosity and of raising funds. One strategy we have been following is to provide as much fun and fellowship for our members knowing that is a very basic step in developing commitment to our programs.

Ministry & Personnel Team

The Ministry & Personnel Team is responsible for personnel matters which include ministry staff and non-ministry staff (administrative, custodial, music and young people’s programs).

Memorial Reception Team

The Memorial Reception Team prepares and serves refreshments for memorial receptions.  Proceeds from these receptions is revenue for our Church.

Property Team

The Property Team consists of a lead and 4-6 team members who manage all property and facilities of the congregation.  Their responsibilities include maintaining an inventory of all furniture, fixtures and equipment.  They make major improvement recommendations to the Leadership Team.  They are also responsible for the long term program for updating and improving the Church.

Sunday Morning Volunteers

Refreshments

Every Sunday, volunteers prepare refreshments for fellowship after worship (11:30 a.m.).  This involves preparing coffee, setting out cookies, cups and glasses for juice.  Volunteers also clean up after coffee.

Greeting

Volunteers greet members and visitors as they arrive for Sunday Worship.

Ushering

Two volunteers hand out bulletins as congregants enter the sanctuary for worship.  Two additional volunteers help with the offering.
