Fort Garry Women’s Group
Records of Fort Garry United Church Women’s Groups go back 60 years - when there were several Units,
which, over the years, divided and amalgamated into the current Unit 7 - a group of 20 active members,
who, in the past, met 4-5 times/year: originally in members’ homes, & later, as the numbers became, in some cases,
too large for individuals’ homes- in the Church Board Room.
Our group became an important source of executing many money-making projects to assist in repairs and additions within the church,
and donations to chosen community projects, as well as supporting & bonding with Unit members.
The Annual Cookie Run became the Unit’s main project for raising funds for special purposes, such as new gowns for the FGUC Choir,
new bridge tables, new pitchers & glasses for the kitchen, and a new coffee maker.
In addition, the Unit provided funds for new tables for the upper hall and 3 floor fans and new folding chairs.
Now called the FGUC Women’s Group, the group continues to be a fellowship of Christian women who connect and support one another
with visits, cards and flowers.
