FORT GARRY QUILTERS

Fort Garry Quilters was formed in 1981 by Nell Ralston, Wilma Harrison and Vivian Cameron as a fund raiser for the church’s 60th anniversary.

For a fee of $1.00 members could have their name embroidered on a block of fabric.

These blocks were made into a quilt designed by Vivian Cameron.

The quilt was presented to Rev. Don Frame who was the minister at the time.

The number of quilters increased, and they began to meet regularly once a week in the Upper Hall.

They hand quilted their own quilts as well as for others.

The monies raised were donated to the church as well as to The Salvation Army and Operation Eyesight.

When they were at peak membership, they were able to hand-quilt two quilts or more each year.

Over time the number of hand quilters decreased, and the group was disbanded in 2016.
